Our name is on
every home.

So we build every one like it's ours. Christensen Custom Homes is a family business, run by husband and wife Darren and Alexis Christensen, and every house we hand over carries our family's name with it.

How it started

Built on years of
big projects.

Long before there was a Christensen Custom Homes, Darren was learning the trade on some of the most demanding job sites there are: hotels, medical facilities, high-end retail. Projects where a missed date or a blown budget was never an option.

In 2021 he brought that experience to the Coastal Bend and started something of his own: a builder small enough that the owners answer the phone, and experienced enough to build for salt air, storm season and the long, humid summers that punish every shortcut.

It has never been a one-person operation. Darren is on the job site; Alexis is at the design table and behind every schedule, selection and update. Two owners, one standard, and a home that never falls through the cracks.

That's why our clients rarely mention one of us without the other. It's never just Darren, or just Alexis. It's Darren and Alexis.

Darren's career started on job sites where precision wasn't optional. A proud graduate of Texas A&M, Class of 2000, he joined Lyda Swinerton Builders and spent years managing large-scale commercial work, from hotels and medical facilities to high-end retail, restaurants and custom hunting lodges.

That's where he learned the discipline that shapes every Christensen home: schedules that hold, budgets that stay honest, and dozens of trades working as one crew. Today he brings that same rigor to custom homes on the coast, and it has earned him the trust of architects, engineers and a loyal base of clients across the Coastal Bend.

Alexis Christensen

Alexis is the reason a Christensen build feels personal. She leads design and selections, walking each client through finishes, fixtures and materials with personalized recommendations and smart, competitive options that keep the home on budget.

Behind the scenes, she runs the administration of every project, so the paperwork, the schedule and the communication never stall, and you always know what happens next.
